Another very large phosphate deposit Waad Al Shamal formally called Al Khabra is due north from Al Jalamid about 80 km. Maaden contracted Saudi Comedat to undertake the task of expanding an existing
exploration pit to determine the geological properties of the ore body for beneficiation. The trial works were completed successfully in 2012.
The project is in a highly sensitive border area between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
As such Saudi Comedat was selected because of our local knowledge and outstanding reputation among the areas various governmental agencies within the region.
As a result of the work done and samples provided by Saudi Comedat the Waad Al Shamal deposit was verified and is now going to be the Kingdom’s largest mining project with an anticipated start date of 2016
